Eligibility Criteria for CTET September 2018

Primary stage (class 1 to v)


Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with minimum 50% marks and is passing or appearing in the final year of 02-year diploma in primary education or

According to Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and in the final year of 02-year diploma in primary education according to NCTE 2002 norms

Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and in the final year of 04 years passed or passed for primary education undergraduate (BEL.ed) or

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and in the last year of 02 year diploma (special education) passed or displayed

Graduation and passing or attendance in the final year of 02-year diploma in primary education

Secondary stage (Class VI to VIII)


Passing or attending the final year of Bachelor Degree and 02-year Diploma in Elementary Education

Graduate with at least 50% marks and passed 01 years Bachelor (B.E.) or Education in Education

According to the NCTE norms, graduation with at least 45% marks and 01 years Bachelor in Education (BEd) is being passed or displayed or

Higher Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passing in the last year of 04 years, graduate in elementary education (B.L.A.AD.) Or

Senior secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 04-year-old BA / BScide or BA / AE / BSc final year is passing or appearing. Or

Graduation with at least 50% marks and 1-year B.Ed. Passed or displayed in (Special Education).

Selection Process: Candidate Selection is based on written examination.

Exam Pattern: All questions in CTET will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), which will have four options, one of which will be correct. Each takes a mark and there will be no negative marking.

CTET will have two papers.

(i) Paper, I will be for a person who wants to be a teacher for Class I to V.

(ii) Paper II will be for a person who wants to be a teacher for classes VI to VIII.

Note: A person who wants to become a teacher for both levels (classes I to V and class VI to VIII), both papers (Paper I and Paper II) should be seen in.

Paper I (for Classes I to V) Primary Stage:  Duration of Examination – 2½ Hours Structure and Materials (All Mandatory): (Appendix I)

(i) Child development and teaching – 30 MCQ – 30 marks

(ii) Language I (Mandatory) – 30 MCQ – 30 marks

(iii) Language II (mandatory) – 30 MCQ – 30 marks

(iv) Mathematics – 30 MCQ – 30 marks

(v) Environmental Studies – 30 MCQ-30 marks

Total: 150 MCQ 150 points

Paper II (for Classes VI to VIII) Elementary Stage: Four and a half hours Structure and materials (all mandatory): (Appendix I)

(i) Child Development and Teaching (Mandatory) – 30 MCQ – 30 marks

(ii) Language I (Mandatory) – 30 MCQ – 30 marks

(iii) Language II (mandatory) – 30 MCQ – 30 marks

(iv) Mathematics and Science – 60 MCQ-60 marks (for Mathematics and Science teacher)

(v) Social Studies / Social Science – 60 MCQ-60 marks (for Social Studies / Social Science Teacher)

* For any other teacher – either (IV) or (V)

Total: 150 MCQ 150 points

1- Candidates who meet eligibility criteria can apply for an entrance examination.

2- Click on the applicant’s Central Teacher Eligibility Examination September 2018 session link.

3- Fill the online application form and note the registration number/application number.

4: Upload the latest photograph and signature scanned images

5- Pay the exam fee by e-challan or debit/credit card

6- To print future confirmation pages for future reference.
